Useful Processes Related To The Water Treatment

Source : http://thearticlehighway.com/2010/01/20/useful-processes-related-to-the-water-treatment/

Water treatment is not an easy task. You will certainly have to look after many processes which will then lead to the purified water. The processes like chlorination as well as the flocculation are very important. Each process has its own importance. You need to know about each of them. In this article I will be talking about some of the water treatment processes and try to explain almost all of them.

Some of the water treatment processes are as follows:

1. pH adjustment

As far as the distilled water is concerned, it has the pH of 7. This means that it is neither alkaline nor acidic. Now suppose the water is acidic. Then it is quite sure that you will have to add the lime, soda ash as well as the sodium hydroxide. This is done to raise the pH. The forced grass degassifiers are also very good supplements. As far as the municipal water is concerned it is being treated with the lime.

2. Flocculation

It is the process which clarifies the water. This process deals with removing the turbidity as well as the color from the water. In this way the water is made to look quite clear. This is done by developing a precipitate inside the water. This process is called the flocculation. Some of the flocculating agents are ferric hydroxide, aluminum hydroxide, PolyDADMAC. All of these three agents are used for flocculation and they are quite great as well.

3. Sedimentation

The water existing in the flocculation basin enters the sedimentation basin. The sedimentation is a scientific process. In this method the sludge is formed and this sludge is removed from the water. Do you know that how the sludge is formed. Actually the chemical is mixed in the water. This chemical absorbs the waste material which then settles down the basin. After settling it forms a layer which is called the sludge. This sludge can be easily removed from the water.

4. Filtration

As far as the filtration is concerned you will certainly find out that some very minute waste particles are removed in this process. As far as the minute particles are concerned, you will certainly find out that the filters come of various dimensions. You will have to use the filter of very high quality if you want to get very highly purified water.

So these are some of the processes which are to be carried out to get the purified water through the water treatment plant.
